Kan wel degelijk. Hier is niet Europa bedoeld in de zin van de volkenrechtelijke organisatie. Mochten ze willen in Brussel, Europa betekent echt nog wel meer dan dat. (het woord bestond al lang voordat de EG werd opgericht per slot van rekening)

Explanation:
Er heerste een sfeer van het Europese vasteland.
Bij Merriam-Webster staat nog te lezen, dat er vaak Frankrijk bedoeld wordt als het om eten(cuisine) gaat. Maar hier, lijkt mij, 'Europese vasteland' het veiligst.
