English to Dutch translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space / airport | | English term or phrase: Hold-Abeam position/ Abeam position | De-icinginstallatie. Dit is een plek waar een vliegtuig wacht tot het wordt toegelaten tot het de-icingplatform. Ik ben tot "opstelplaats" gekomen; ik weet dat de term "abeam" verwijst naar een positie aan de zijkant van het vliegtuig - ik kan er echter geen Nederlandse term voor vinden die hier werkt (Van Dale geeft dwars, dwars van (abeam of)).
De term komt veel voor in de tekst, dus het moet iets bondigs zijn. Misschien is de Engelse term zo courant dat deze kan blijven staan - advies graag!

als je er per se een Nederlandse term van wilt maken; opstelplaats zou ik juist zien als de plek waar je gede-iced wordt en dat wordt hier duidelijk niet bedoeld.
Maar je zou dit volgens mij onvertaald zou kunnen laten: de Nederlandse luchtvaart zit zo vol met Engelse termen, dat ik me wel eens afvraag waarom we überhaupt nog iets uit het Engels naar het Nederlands vertalen, het wordt er namelijk vaak niet mooier op... |
