Komt verschillende keren voor in de tekst;
A Neolithic enclosure, recognised from *cropmarks* on aerial photographs. *Cropmarks* in the area show many more ring ditches, as well as a trackway/enclosure system of contemporary date. Cropmark complex indicating an enclosure with field systems and trackways. Ik weet wat het zijn, maar ben op zoek naar een Nederlands woord voor dit fenomeen (overigens niet te verwarren met crop circles)

Afhankelijk van het jaargetijde kunnen de archeologische sporen verschijnen als vochtigheidsverschillen in de bovengrond (soilmarks) of als kleurverschillen in de gewassen (cropmarks). Lichte niveauverschillen kunnen worden opgemerkt door de slagschaduw die zij veroorzaken (shadowmarks)
