Context: 'mock Tudor properties of the Cameron Highlands [Maleisië] are part of the British colonial legacy' en: 'the area quickly developed into a hill-station for nostalgic colonials, to come home to their mock Tudor bungalows for cream teas by a roaring log fire'.
Ik twijfel over de mooiste vertaling: nagemaakte Tudor, of nep-Tudor, of misschien 'in tudorstijl'? Wat vinden jullie?

In het laatste artikel komt de term "mock" niet voor, maar het lijkt me toch wel te gaan om dezelfde stijl. Dezelfde architecten worden genoemd, om maar eens wat te noemen.

Ik denk dat dit het juiste antwoord is. De context is niet zodanig dat de minieme verschillen tussen de twee termen relevant zijn, dus het wordt neo-Tudor. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Tsja, dat vraag ik me ook af. Mocht je (gelet op de context) het eventuele verschil tussen mock en neo relevant vinden, dan lijkt me dat je Mock Tudor onvertaald moet laten - ik kan me tenminste niet indenken dat er in NL een andere term gangbaar voor is.
In eerste instantie leek neo-Tudor mij niet de correcte vertaling, maar Rons links brengen mij toch aan het twijfelen. Hoe betrouwbaar Wikipedia is, is natuurlijk altijd de vraag, maar de aangekondigde lezing in Architecture Week bevestigt Rons antwoord. Tenzij historicus Gavin Stamp de schrijver is van de Wiki-artikelen...

Dit deel van het Wiki-artikel over 'Tudorbethan architecture' is echter geschreven door een zekere Dieter Simon. Een mede Wiki-schrijver merkt nog op: "I'm still a little uncomfortable with Tudorbethan, Tudor-revival, neo-Tudor all being as one, but the difference (if there is one) is so minute, I'm unsure of it, although I can spot it a mile off when I see the buildings in the flesh - I shall have to give it some thought." Uit de verdere discussie over details van het artikel wordt duidelijk dat de schrijvers weten waar ze het over hebben en gerenommeerde naslagwerken gebruiken ter onderbouwing van hun beweringen.
Maar misschien zijn er stevige argumenten te geven tegen de gelijkstelling van mock Tudor met neo-Tudor?
