Explanation:
basically, this involves a generalization often made about African Americans, that they all like to eat fried chicken (gefrituurde kip). So the 'zwarte' here is being ironic and is perhaps saying that he's going to go do what the whites feel he does best, and that is frying chicken. It's a strange 'joke' but this is basically the background behind it.

Sorry, ik dacht alleen dat de vraag was wat de betekenis was van de grap - ik had het niet vertaald. Je ZOU het eventueel kunnen vertalen in het NL met wat over Surinamers of zoiets zoals zo (te?) vaak gedaan wordt op TV en in films - ik vind het allemaal een beetje gevoelig. Iets over roti of zo?

in response to Chris\' comment: if this IS for subtitling purposes(not that I have any experience), I can imagine any \'translation\' of an American cultural slur into one Dutch would/could relate to will only appear silly if the image doesn\'t fit the text - hopefully you understand what I\'m trying to say!

I don't see the problem with 'go back'. It's just a standard way of breaking off a conversation that you're not interested in persuing, for which one Dutch equivalent immediately springs to mind:

-> 'als je het niet erg vindt, ga ik verder met [racial stereotype activity]'.

One way you could decide to translate this is to drop the specific racial reference of \'frying chicken\' (which probably only an American audience would understand anyway) and change it for another very menial or humbling activity. While it might not be a 100% true translation, it does fit the image and situation on the screen (presuming we\'re subtitling) and also fits into the limited space available.

E.g. if you were to translate it as \'ik ga verder met aardappels wassen/maniok malen/or whatever\', the guy is essentially saying \'I\'d rather been scrubbing spuds (etc.) than talking to a biggoted dumb-nut like you\'. Just a thought...

Allison Klein: that's the point I was trying to make (albeit poorly) - it's not an instrumental part of the sentence in terms of the translation - unless he had said 'think I'll REVERT back...'

Tina Vonhof: I agree with 'ik ga maar weer verder'. But I would leave the original 'kippetjes braden' and then add something like 'dat kunnen wij immers zo goed' to clarify the meaning for a Dutch audience. Particularly if it is subtitling, I would not substitute.
