Niet echt volgens mij. Van Dale geeft bovenstaande omschrijving voor "sixth form college", met daarbij "ongeveer" vermeld. Zie ook de link voor meer informatie.

An approximate equivalent is VWO, in the sense that the qualifications you gain on successful completion of sixth form college (A levels or AS levels) are needed for access to third-level education.

The description given by Van Dale for 'sixth form' (see Robert's answer) is rather dubious. The information provided in Wikipedia offers a more accurate view:
-> "Despite being part of the optional tertiary Further Education (FE) process in the United Kingdom, the majority of students study for [A levels] at a Sixth Form College, which is an integrated part of a Secondary Education institution. This is normally done as a direct continuation of the secondary education process and hence most students study for the qualification from age 16 to 18."
