In een presentatie over management kom ik een gebruik van het woord 'banner' tegen dat mij volstrekt onbekend is:
"To keep track we use PM tool for employees working in EU banners Support offices & Centers of Excellence and paper forms for majority of employees working in Stores and Distribution centers."
Verderop in de presentatie nog:
"Support office banners"
"Contact your HR department for detailed planning, additional info and forms applied in your banner"

Bedoelen ze nou gewoon 'land'?
Overigens verdenk ik de tekst ervan niet geschreven te zijn door een Engelstalige auteur.

Explanation:
Denk aan 'onder de banieren' vechten. Ik vertaal wel eens voor een Franse multinational waar alle woorden voor afdeling etc. 'op' zijn. Je kunt je bijvoorbeeld voorstellen dat bepaalde stafafdelingen voor alle Scandinavische of Baltische landen onder één banier werken. Gokje!

Explanation:
The word "banner" is used in Dutch as well, see the EU reference below (if you change the NL bit to EN you will see that both have the word banner in them).

Maar het gebruik van banner in jouw voorbeelden past inderdaad niet echt...

Asker: Nee, dit is banner zoals banner bedoeld is. :-) Ik zoek dus een geheel nieuwe betekenis voor dit begrip, tenzij mijn eigen begrip te krap zit.

Technology Services is pleased to announce the addition of a Banner training and support office. The newly created office provides Banner support to all Tulane University campus locations. The team can accommodate all Banner training needs, including personal or departmental training.

If you are one of these users and desire access to the Banner application, obtain an account from your Designated Unit Requestor. Data Stewards or their designates may request Banner account access for campus staff through the Banner Account Request application.

Requirements:

To use the Banner INB application one must have an account and permissions to that application. In addition, it is crucially as important that your computer system be configured correctly and securely managed. Please work with your local computer support personnel, CSR or CSS to ensure your system meets the requirements. Here are the application requirements for Banner:
