Hi Lianne,
I chose 'een auto stelen'. This is why I didn't choose any of the two proposed translations:
* 'jatten' is quite common in The Netherlands but not in Belgium, the game is meant for the complete Dutch-speaking area so the terminology has to follow.
* 'een auto hijacken': like so many people, I use quite some English in my daily Dutch speak, but for 'to hijack' there are perfect alternatives (kapen, gijzelen).
The ideal word that we use (in Belgium at least, I guess in Holland too) is 'a car-jacking' but this is a noun. I don't think we say 'ik ga een auto car-jacken'. I admit that 'stelen' has less the notion of the car-jacking in it (being stealing while there's someone inside the car), but it seemed the best acceptable choice anyway, and the client agreed. Regards, Michel |
