English term or phrase: wedding invite acceptance
Does anyone know how to write a formal reply to a wedding invitation in dutch? In english I would have written: "x and x thank Mr and Mrs x for their kind invitation to the wedding of their daughter x to x at the church in amsterdam on xxx, and have great pleasure in accepting". Sorry this is a personal thing, hope nobody minds! Thankyou for your help!

Dutch translation:explanation
Explanation:
Other rules may apply between nobility but a normal formal acceptance letter would be:

Aan de heer en mevrouw x

Vriendelijk bedankt voor uw uitnodiging om aanwezig te zijn tijdens de inzegening van het huwelijk van uw dochter x met x in de Nieuwe Kerk te Amsterdam op 7 april a.s.

Het is ons een genoegen tijdens deze plechtigheid aanwezig te mogen zijn.

Met vriendelijke groeten,
John en Josephine Bell

Nieuwe Kerk has to be replaced with the real name of the church. You are aware of the complicated Dutch rules for wedding invitations? The actual wedding takes place in the city hall You're confirming to attend the consecration of the wedding. This excludes the actual wedding before and any party and dinner afterwards.

@Tina - The fact you disagree proves Dutch etiquette is confusing in this regard. :-) When Josephine mentioned church I remembered the embarrassing situation American friends experienced when they found out they had missed the actual wedding and were not supposed to attend the wedding party. The English word \"wedding\" is not very precise. In case Josephine is invited to both ceremonies or to both ceremonies and to the party the acceptance letter will be different.

agree  Tina Vonhof (X): Agree with your letter but disagree with what you say at the end. If you are invited to a wedding, that means all of it. Anyone can come to City Hall or the Church, even without an invitation.

agree  winterjasmij (X): invitation to a wedding includes the actual wedding and party, but not the dinner etc. afterwards, unless you are explicitly invited to.
