This is a national program in the US, whereby the Court appoints people to represent children who are abused, neglected, or otherwise need someone to speak for them.
Is there a Dutch equivalent?
Tina
Dutch translation:de advocaat van de kinderbescherming
Explanation:
I don't know if there's a Dutch equivalent, but I do know the 'Kinderbescherming' takes care of abused and/or neglected children, they sure have lawyers too...

Thank you, your answer + explanation is good but it does not capture the fact that
this is the name of a program. And to all those who answered: an 'advocate' is not
an 'advocaat'. An advocate is 'any person who supports or speaks in favor of or pleads
for another' (Oxford Complete Word Finder). The Dutch 'advocaat' is a 'lawyer' in
(North American) English.
