De volledige zin is:
The transport incubator is Type B equipment and the baby may not be electrically isolated from earth.

Het eerste deel van de zin levert geen probleem op, maar ik weet niet zo goed wat ik aanmoet met 'electrically isolated from earth'. Kan iemand me daarmee helpen?

Dutch translation:elektrisch geïsoleerd van de aarde

Explanation:
Letterlijk. De baby mag niet elektrisch geïsoleerd (afgesloten) zijn van de aarde en moet dus elektrisch geaard zijn (in elektrisch contact staan met de aarde). Dit ter voorkoming van ophoping van elektrische lading.

Ik heb hier toch nog vragen bij, omdat het zo onbegrijpelijk overkomt. Hier een door Portugezen in het Engels geschreven tekst over de regelgeving voor medische hulpmiddelen:

Applied Part: Type B, BF or CF

IEC 60601-1 uses the term applied part to refer to the part of the medical device which comes into physical contact with the patient in order for the device to carry out its intended function.

Applied parts are classified as Type B, Type BF or Type CF according to the nature of the device and the type of contact. Each classification has differing requirements from the point of view of protection against electrical shock.

Type CF is the most stringent classification, being required for those applications where the applied part is in direct conductive contact with the heart.

Type BF is less stringent than CF, and is generally for devices that have conductive contact with the patient, or have applied parts that are fixed in medium or long term contact with the patient, e.g. ECG electrodes.

Type B is the least stringent classification, and is used for applied parts that are generally not conductive and can be immediately released from the patient.

Type B applied parts may be connected to earth, while Type BF and CF are 'floating' and must be separated from earth.

Although IEC 60601-1 doesn't stipulate which classification is to be used for specific devices, the particular standards, IEC 60601-2-XX, generally do specify which classification is required.

Er staat in feite dat type B hulpmiddelen met de aarde verbonden mogen zijn. Dus ook niet verbonden mogen zijn.

Als je Engelse tekst een tekst is die door een niet-Engelse geschreven is, kan het goed zijn dat er bedoeld wordt: de baby mag met de aarde verbonden zijn (the baby may be connected to the earth), en dat men dat omgedraaid heeft: de baby mag (ook) niet met de aarde verbonden zijn (the baby may not be isolated from the earth).

Als dit een reguleringstekst voor medische hulpmiddelen is, dan geldt dat de meest strikte klassen C en BP per se vam de aarde gescheiden moeten zijn en klasse B evt. met de aarde verbonden mag zijn.

Ik zou dit trouwens navragen bij de client - om veiligheidsredenen.
