English term or phrase: device copies

The sentence: "These products together form x% of our turnover, and ZZ particularly is under threat from generic and device copies."

ZZ is a pharmaceutical product. I understand what 'generic copies' are (generieke medicijnen, of versies) but I have no idea what 'device copies' could mean, especially since ZZ is a powder that will be dissolved in water, and doesn't have anything to do with devices. The only thing I can think of is that there is some difference between generic and device copies, such as generics being exact copies and device(d?) copies being similar but somehow different products...?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Explanation:
gaat het hier niet (toch!) gewoon om een medical device, dus een apparaatje dat wordt gebruikt in samenhang met dit (of een ander) medicijn? komt er ergens anders in je tekst nog "device" voor? heb je gegoogeld op de naam van het product (zz) in combinatie met device?

ik heb nergens iets kunnen vinden dat ook maar enige samenhang suggereert tussen generieke medicijnen en "device kopieën", ook niet als je device opvat als een spelfout voor devise(d)...

Asker: Ik ben het helemaal met je eens dan behalve met het antwoord dat weinig sense maakt in deze context - maar ik kwam tot dezelfde bevindingen, zowiezo, en ook met zz erbij. Het enige dat ik nog kan bedenken is dat de auteur even met z'n gedachten naar algemeenheden is afgedwaald...
