Reference information:
De (kruis)banden, het kapsel en de meniscus zorgen voor de passieve stabiliteit, de spieren zorgen voor de actieve stabiliteit. De meniscus functioneert ook als demping tussen de botten. Het kraakbeen zorgt dat de botten van onder en bovenbeen soepel langs elkaar kunnen glijden. Aan de voorzijde van de knie zit de knieschijf.
Bij kruisbandletsel:
Het onderbeen kan ten opzichte van het bovenbeen naar voren worden bewogen wanneer de knie 15 graden gebogen is. Bij deze zogenaamde test van Lachman kunnen beide benen met elkaar worden vergeleken.
