English term or phrase: Desalter

I know this translates as 'ontzouter' or 'ontzilter', but neither seems to be common in Dutch petrochemical terminology. There must be another name for this...

Explanation:
Een ontziltingsinstallatie is een apparaat of fabriek waarin uit zout water, zoet water wordt gemaakt. Dit kan op verschillende manieren:

destillatie van zeewater (verdamping gevolgd door condensatie)
gebruik van osmotische membranen

De gehele ontziltingsinstallatie bestaat uit een voorbehandelingsysteem, een ontzoutingsysteem en een nabehandelingsysteem. Een hogedrukpomp verhoogt de voedingswaterdruk van de benodigde werkdruk. De werkdruk ligt aanzienlijk boven de osmotische druk om een goede stroming door het membraan te bewerkstelligen. Een hoge werkdruk zal resulteren in een grotere hoeveelheid geproduceerd water. De druk in de membranen wordt gecontroleerd door een hogedrukschakelaar. In de installatie zijn doorstroommeters (flowmeters) en drukmeters opgenomen voor het instellen en controleren van het proces. Verder zijn er een aantal beveiligingen opgenomen, zoals een lagedrukschakelaar en een EC-meter met een EC-beveiliging.
