Weet het niet zeker, maar ik denk idd dat dit betrekking heeft op vaartuigen die actief zijn, d.w.z. gewoon in het water worden gebruikt i.p.v. vaartuigen die voor onderhoud of stalling uit het water zijn gehaald. Ik kan me voorstellen dat er wat maritieme coatings betreft verschillende eisen worden gesteld aan beide categorieën, zeker als het om zeegaande vaartuigen gaat. Zout water is immers behoorlijk corrosief.

Eventueel: actieve en/of gebruiksvaartuigen.
Komt niet veel voor, maar klinkt leuk. Active craft: vissersboten, sloepen ed, ter onderscheiding van leisure craft zijn (die doorgaans minder gebruikt worden).
Met name in context van Trilux gevonden:
"Trilux 33 has a slow polishing rate at high speed preventing polish-through on fast, active craft"

In bovenstaand context gaat het kennelijk om boten die veel gebruikt worden en dus (relatief erg) actief zijn (speedboten, vissersboten wellicht, actieve boten, itt boten die voor langere tijden in docks opgeslagen liggen e.d., hetgeen in de VS veel voorkomt).

Active craft komt ook voor als categorie bij het tellen van het aantal actieve boten, die dus momenteel actief 'in dienst zijn' als pleziervaartuigen of anderszins (zie 'recreational boating study' e.d.).

Een NL bedrijf in scheepsverven vertaalt de Trilux-ad weliswaar verkeerd, maar de vertaling geeft wel de essentie weer (aannemende dat een bedrijf in scheepsverven weet waar het over praat)
