On skiing boots. I did some research on them, but I can't seem to figure out the Dutch equivalent of this term...

Asker: It appears to be something different within the context of skiing boots (skischoenen), though. See more context: "The ski boot cuffs are the parts of the boot shells that encompass your ankle. Boot cuffs are attached to the lower forefoot of the boot using a series of hinges and pivot screws."

agree  André Linsen: Vertaling ok, alleen met andere referenties (bvb: www.freepatentsonline.com/EP0113908.pdf). Dit onderdeel doet me denken aan slobkousen, (FR: guêtre) of als onderdeel van militaire uitrusting (in goed Vlaams): getten. Misschien: verstelbare laarskap?

lastige dingen. Ik heb wat gegoogeld met potentiele termen, maar bovenstuk noch beenstuk noch enkelstuk noch flap etc. levert iets goeds op. En als het al wordt behandeld op een Nederlandse site kom je uit bij b.v.
"Let erg goed op dat je geen drukpunten of pijnlijke plekken voelt. De schoen moet overal goed aansluiten, niet alleen bij je voetzolen, maar ook aan de bovenkant bij je wreef. Hetzelfde geldt voor de bovenkant van de skischoenen (met je schenen en kuiten)." (http://www.voorkomblessures.nl/csi/websitesportblessure.nsf/... )
of de "zijwaartse instelling van de buitenmantel"die franky geeft.
(Helaas omvat de buitenmantel niet alleen je enkel, maar ook je tenen, en komt de door hem gegeven tekst ermee weg omdat de "cuffs" toevallig het enige gedeelte is dat zijwaarts kan worden ingesteld.)
Improviseren dus :)
