Hello everbody,

I found this term in a leaflet for tourism in Schotland.

This part of the leaflet discusses Scottish distilleries.

Here is sentence in which I found the term plus a bit of context:

Explanation:
Ik weet niet of het borrelen is of proeven van borrels. Een dram is een volume-eenheid.
Dram has two meanings referring to fluid measure: one is the specific one, 'a fluid dram', equal to 1/8 of a fluid ounce. The far more common meaning is the broader 'a small drink of liquor'.

Explanation:
Elke Schot vat deze term op als het drinken van "a wee dram of" whisky (nooit whisky, trouwens - die spelling wordt alleen in Ierland en de VS gebruikt voor iets dat in de verte lijkt op het Schotse origineel). Cask tasting is het proeven van whisky die vele jaren op een houten vat is bewaard. Deze is veel sterker (bevat tot wel 70% alcohol) dan gebottelde whisky, doordat er alcohol verdampt door het hout (de verdampte alcohol wordt 'the angels' share' genoemd).

Wat betreft de notitie van Sindy: -> Dat is mij bekend, vandaag de toevoeging "met een duidelijke hint naar genieten". "Dramming" heeft voor doorgewinterde whiskydrinkers wel degelijk de betekenis van drinken; vaak veel daarvan ook, dus echt meer dan alleen maar "proeven": voor niet-doorgewinterde whiskydrinkers is niet duidelijk dat het over whisky gaat, daarom zou ik het woord "whisky" toevoegen.
