Well, I've never heard this expression... 09:19 Apr 29, 2010
And I'm a native US-English speaker. So I googled it and found it only twice, once on this site, and once in a traveller's recommendation of a hotel. And I think it makes no sense... The writer recommends the hotel as "a landing pad only, not for a getaway or business accomodation. Just hang yer hat 'n git!" So it seems to me he's saying it's a place to stay maybe your first night in the city, or for one night, a stopover. So why would you want to hang your hat in either the sense of settling in or feeling at home...? Maybe hang your hat there for one night and then move on ('git")? |
