Als in: Sometimes I think there's a secret pact among hotelmen. It's a secret oath you take when you graduate from hotel school. It goes like this: "I promise I will never ask for the order." (Am. Engels)
Ik dacht dat het over bestelling opnemen ging, maar hij trekt het door naar alle personeelsleden (kamermeisjes, portiers, piccolo's, etc...). Ze moeten allemaal productiever worden en het product "hotel" actiever verkopen. Hij eindigt zijn betoog daarom ook met "Everybody sells".
Zijn hele speech is opgebouwd rond "ask for the order". Ik begrijp dus wel wat hij bedoelt, maar wat is een mooi Nederland equivalent hiervoor?

Explanation: Eerst dacht ik aan iets vaags als "aan de man proberen te brengen", maar als je dan toch weet waarover het precies gaat, kun je misschien beter wat preciezer zijn dan wat vager.
