English term or phrase: Ariana Afghan Airlines
I am writing an article which mentions Ariana, among other airlines. What I would like to have is the Farsi (or that in another Afghan language) name of the airline transliterated into English.

For example, JAL/Japan Airlines is called 'Nihon Koku' in Japanese, and generally abbrebviated to 'Nikkoo'. This is the sort of thing I am after.

I cannot read Arabic/Persian script, so please use English letters.

Thank you!

Explanation:
Ariana ('the Arian race')was the former name of Afghanistan. The Afghan Airlines is called 'Ariana' and there is no acronym for it! I was informed by an Afghani MA student of mine! The name is used by both Dari and Pushtun speakers.

Best regards

Thank you. Fascinating. "Iran", I believe, also means the same thing as "Aryana". I was hoping for the 'Afghan Airlines' bit too, but possibly this is different in Dari and Pashto. Thanks
