English term or phrase: guileless persuasion
Call it nostalgia for a more innocent time, before hawking and pitching became pseudo-sciences beholden to marketing Svengalis, trend spotters, and focus groups. This was an era when **guileless persuasion** and earnest salesmanship reigned supreme.

Explanation:
I felt French "persuasion" doesn't convey the sense of sales pitch, so if we are allowed to be a little more informal, "baratin" covers the meaning well.
