English term or phrase: 'wow' factor
I would appreciate a similarly 'in' phrase used in marketing to describe consumer response to an ad/concept etc. If we don't come up with one the English term will slip into the French as 'franglais' !

Nathalie Reis: 1:38pm Sep 16, 2006: Could you give the full sentence please?
ormiston: 1:42pm Sep 16, 2006: it's more of a concept - i.e. research into the ability of the ad etc. to make a great impression (beaucoup plus que percutant à mon sens)

Impact publicitaire/ Faire son "petit effet"/Etre percutant/Faire sensation
Explanation:
Pourl'instant, j'ai du mal à trouver des traductions avec des substantifs (sauf impact publicitaire). Provisoirement, je les remplace par des expressions susceptibles de mettre sur la piste.

Par contre, non au franglais ! la langue française est suffisamment riche !

Explanation:
I tried to send my answer the other day but it didn't work, so I've decided to try again as in my opinion, the answer that was chosen doesn't entirely correspond to the meaning of the English.
It depends on the context, of course, but for me the "wow factor" refers more to the special element that makes something (a house, a car, a presentation, etc.) stand from the rest, what makes it unique and different from the competitors. To my mind, "impact publicitaire" is good but it's more of a consequence rather than a fact and many adverts can make an impact without having the "wow factor".
"Facteur/élément différenciateur" is more formal but seems to be used in an advertising context.
Other ideas: "effet de surprise" ou "pouvoir d'émerveillement" but these 2 are slightly moving away from the original meaning.
