Si vous y tenez, Tony, il pourra s'agir de "bandeau en surimpression" mais je pense que bandeau suffit largement pour immédiatement évoquer spécifiquement un "super".

Remarquez la virgule qui sépare "bandeau" de "en surimpression de l'image".

neutral  Tony M: I agree about its being short for 'superimposition', but not sure about 'accolé'? GDT suggest, for example, 'surimpression' and 'superposé'...???

neutral  Tony M: Unsure of the FR term, but basically 'juxt-' means 'alongside', whereas here, 'super-' means 'on top of' / No, it is along the bottom of the screen, but the use of 'super' in EN quite clearly indicates it is superimposed

  -> Yes, but as far as I undestand it's to appear below... / in french "superposé" also says it's on top of, but then you can't read what is underneath... so now I'm confused...

neutral  Tony M: It may well be superimposed on a strip, but the key thing is that it is actually superimposed. / Not a question of 'lourd' or not, but this is a very specific technical term, there MUST be an equivalent word for it in FR!

  -> We could always say "texte en surimposition" but it's "lourd" and I think the French don't feel the need to overdescribe, for once ;-)
