Le genre n'est alors indiqué que par un pronom différent(son jouet, sa poupée).
Ne confondons pas le genre et le sexe est un débat assez actuel chez les grammairiens et a donné lieu à discussion sur les exigences de certaines à se faire appeler "madame la ministre"
L'exemple classique est militaire: une sentinelle est certainement de genre féminin, cela mais ne préjuge rien du sexe de qui tient cette fonction!
