English term or phrase:shaft and trunnion
Contexte : mission Apollo 13, les astronautes ont pour mission de prendre en photo la comète Bennett. Extrait de leur dialogue avec le centre de contrôle :
Capcom: we've got one more item for you, when you get a chance. We'd like you to stir up your cryo tanks. In addition, I have shaft and trunnion...for looking at the Comet Bennett, if you need it.

Je ne comprends pas à quoi se réfère "shaft and trunnion" ici. J'ai trouvé un site proposant une traduction de ce passage; il parle des "coordonnées de la comète".

Cette définition vient de Advanced Oxford Dictionnary (ou de Collins? me rappelles plus!) que je viens de consulter;
on appelle également un "shaft of light" (un faisceau de lumière?) la lumière clignotante d'une torche ou d'une lampe à signals

Quant à trunnion,je croix qu'il s'agit d'un axe de révolution/rotation.
Bref, I have shaft and trunnion doit signifier que l'opérateur voit un objet au cadran de contrôle; l'objet c'est le point à lumière, et le trunnion doit être l'axe qui part du centre du cadran et qui scanne à 180 degrés (je croix qu'on appelle également un trunnion le point central à partir duquel un élice d'élicoptère tourne).
Je suis quasi-certain que mon explication est correcte.
Mon grand soucis est que je n'ai aucune idée si les termes que j'utilise sont appropriés dans ce contexte....

Je crois qu'effectivement, il s'agit des coordonnées (pour l'ordinateur de bord qui gère le télescope embarqué).

C'est un peu technique; mais "shaft and trunnion" serait, dans le jargon des astronautes, les informations à saisir pour trouver la position de la comète.
