Explanation:
As Michael syas, it is certainly the 0.62 that belongs with 'gauge', and not 'aluminum'

The only slight mystery is what the dimension actually refers to? This appears to be a US manufcaturer, working in inches, pounds, etc., and yet 0.62" thick aluminium seems pretty thick (some 16 mm) for this type of structure — though I suppose it's possible.

If not, I can't imagine it means 0,62 mm — apart from the inconsistency of units, that would be too thin.

And 0.62 of 1/10" seems rather thin too.

Either way, the guage refers to the thickness.

I suppose this would be a feasible thickness for hefty aluminium rails desigend as vehicle ramps.
