The Testarossa had twin radiators in the back with the engine instead of a single radiator up-front.[7] In conjunction the strakes provided cool air to the rear-mounted side radiators, thus keeping the engine from over heating. The strakes also made the Testarossa wider at the rear than in the front, thus increasing stability and handling.[2]"

"I'm not going to deny the Testarossa looks a little quirky. Nearly as wide as it is long, and with severe and distinctive cheese-grater side strakes to feed air into the radiators, the Testarossa certainly isn't the typical Pininfarina-designed Ferrari wedge."
