Context: slip-on silencers for sport ATVs. One of the items in a list is "Reverse taper inlet cone". No other information or description is provided.

I've found "cône de pénétration" for "inlet cone" but not sure how to translate "reverse taper".

Any help with the translation into French would be appreciated.

In general "Taper" is used to denote reduction as in a "taptered fit" where an adapter is inserted to reduce the diameter of one piece to fit into another. A "reverse taper" would simple mean an adapter which increases the diameter of one piece to fit over another. So "Cone adaptateur agrandissant" might be what you're looing for as "penetration" won't work contextually.

Explanation:
Pure guess, but I think you are right with the translation of "inlet cone". A "taper" has something to do with cone as well so I would not translate it, and reverse mean in some cases "à pas negatif".
