The figure shows a glutaryl 7-ACA amidase amino acid sequence (a portion of SEQ ID NO:2), and the nucleotide sequence of a 77 base pair "guess-mer" probe (SEQ ID NO:22) derived from it.

The idea behind "guessmer" probes is to find a set of primers that will find gene(s) in organisms when their actual DNA sequence is not known, however the gene's encoded protein sequence in other organisms is.
