English term or phrase: breakdown of food
Cellular respiration, on the other hand is almost the exact opposite of photosynthesis, the former is the making of food in the presence of carbon dioxide and sunlight and the latter is the breakdown of food in the presence of oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and energy. This reaction is facilitated by the Krebs cycle and occurs day and night in all living cells.
