1 - http://www.lincolnre.com/index.htm?Open=http://www.lincolnre... Clearly, the concept of one-stop shopping, or allfinanz, is more advanced in some European markets where the process of integration of financial services is further along. European experience shows that tax-advantaged insurance products with an emphasis on savings accumulation can be successful in the banking channel under certain circumstances. Protection products, such as pure term insurance, are rarely promoted, and the big sellers are investment products with an insurance wrapper. These products tend to compete with banking or investment products rather than other insurance products. 2 - http://www.watsonwyatt.com/homepage/eu/res/PUBLICATIONS/Insu... February 2001 Issue (Insurance & Financial Services Review) Redesigning financial services for the wealthy customers Michael Rudge highlights how growing consumer sophistication is leading financial service providers to focus their product and service offering on delivering only those aspects of the value chain where they can achieve competitive advantage. Consumer sophistication. Sophistication is growing among customers - especially those in the affluent/high net worth segment of the market - and they are becoming more demanding. This is moving the industry from a focus of selling products to providing solutions. Financial service organisations therefore have to consider where they wish to operate in the value chain by providing some or all of the following: · customer acquisition · advisory services and customer relationship management · product ‘wrappers’ · asset management · administration. [...] Product ‘wrappers’. Investment products are increasingly being seen as nothing more than a ‘wrapper’ for the underlying investment. ‘Wrappers’ such as life insurance bonds, pensions, personal equity plans (PEPs) or individual savings accounts (ISAs) can be used for UK tax planning. · Egg offers both ISA and PEP transfer ‘wrappers’ that allow customers to invest in a selection of underlying mutual funds from some of the major fund houses, such as Threadneedle, M&G, Invesco, Gartmore and Jupiter. Customers can buy and sell mutual funds within their ISA/PEP rather than having to change their provider. · James Hay offers various pension products allowing clients to pursue their own investment strategies.
