As a footer in a Word document. Found on the Web that it means that "the source document is online (or accessible thus) and is subject to updating".

Printing out a document is discouraged, however, if required, a printed copy should automatically state "UNCONTROLLED DOCUMENT WHEN PRINTED" in the bottom left hand corner.
