The mercury design concentration in the feed gas is 10g/Nm3, and the treated gas shall contain less than 0.01g/Nm3. Mercury is removed by adsorption on a fixed activated alumina bed, composed of alumina impregnated with metal sulfur. Mercury reacts with sulfur and the result is mercury sulfide, a very stable compound
