Dans cette pile, il y a plusieurs corps d'électrode "scaffolded", et le courant est appliqué sur le corps d'électrode terminal (ou sur un des corps d'extrémité), c'est-à-dire celui qui est (ou un de ceux qui sont) tout au bout de l'empilement de ces corps.
Pourquoi "corps d'électrode terminal" ne conviendrait-il pas ici ?

Par contre, je pense vraiment que terminal va avec body et non avec electrode. Qu'en pensent les anglophones ? Il faudrait peut-être changer le terme demandé...

I would paraphrase it this way before trying to translate it:
The charging process involves the application of an electric current to the terminal on one of the permeable electrodes, which functions as the anode; the body of the cell serves as the cathode terminal.

Instead of:
the charging electrode functioning as the anode and the terminal electrode body functioning as the cathode
this:
the charging the charging functioning as the anode and the electrode body terminal functioning as the cathode

This does not make sense: "applying the electrical current to a terminal one of the permeable electrode bodies" - maybe "of" is missing between "terminal" and "one".
