C'est plus spécifique que "port série" : comme "console port", c'est un port rs-232 / série utilisé pour commander un système en toute sécurité (c'est après tout là le contexte). L'utilisation traditionnelle du port série, à l'époque où il existait sur les PC, était de brancher une souris ou un modem externe.
On trouve les "craft ports" aussi sur les switches at routeurs pour le marché professionnels. Il n'ont évidememnt plus rien à voir avec les utilisations traditionnelles du port série
