Asker: J'ai finalement retenu, après recherche supplémentaire : planches à arêtes vives rabotées. En effet, thicknessed est synonyme de planed (raboté).

My ideas on the formwork/shuttering are:
wrought = metal
thicknessed = stiffened or non-deflecting
punctuating the source; square, edged boards and square-edged boards give two possible interpretations:
planches carrées métalliques renforcées avec bords finis (special edges) ou
planches métalliques renforcées avec bords carréés.
I won't chance a French trans. I am too tired!
