Re-excavation of side drains (gravel roads)
Side drains must be re-excavated to a width of at least 1.8 metres and a minimum depth at the centre of at least 0.6 metres. Turn-outs (mitre drains) to drain water from ditches should be provided in accordance with DFR Activity Specifications.

Il s'agit de tranchées drainantes, enterrées ou non, disposées en épi par rapport à la route, dans le sens du ruissellement de l'eau.

Explanation:
je suis d'accord avec Tredegar82 pour une chose : "turn-out" c'est la même chose que "mitre drains".

mais "drain" signifie 1. a pipe or channel that carries off water, sewage, etc , ce n'est pas la même chose que "drainage".

Et les tuyaux de drainage sont sous-terrains, pas en surface comem les "mitre drains".

Quand aux "éperons de drainage", ils concernent le drainage des pentes, spécifiquement

Turnouts or mitre drains (Figure 11.1) are short, open, skew ditches used to remove water
from the roadside ditches or gutters. Use of turnouts reduces the necessary size of the side
ditches and minimizes the velocity of water and thereby the risk of erosion. Turnouts
must be provided at intervals depending on runoff, permissible velocity of water and
slope of the terrain. To prevent the flow through a turnout from generating soil erosion at

le problème des tranchées en épi, c'est que ce sont des tranchées souterraines de drainage ou d'épandage alors que les "turn-outs" des voiries sont des bifurcations des fossés.
