English term or phrase: Traditional Maltese Honey Rings
In Maltese it is Qaghaq tal-Ghasel

The problem is that these are not exactly rings made of honey.
They can have honey in them but apparently
in our case they don’t even have that much, they are honey-flavoured at best.
But as I understood the client, they don’t want to admit this.

I found anneaux >de< miel on the tourism malta website, but as you say that they're only honey flavoured,

Les desserts dépendent de l'occasion; Easter Figolli (des figures de pâtisserie bourrées d’amandes), Christmas qaghaq tal-ghasel (des anneaux de miel), ou simplement une Cassata, (du biscuit rempli de ricotta avec massepain) un Cannoli, (des pâtisseries frites et remplies de Ricotta) ou un autre de nombreux desserts traditionnels et de biscuits sucrés sont des casse-croûtes populaires, parfaits avec une tasse de café fort.

Et puis, il y a aussi l’étouffée de lapin maltais, le fenek, le qaghaq tal-ghasel, ces petites couronnes au miel ou à la mélasse faites d’une pâte légère ; elles sont souvent servies en petits morceaux pour accompagner le café après le dîner.

Selon les saisons, on se régalera de mqaret frits et fourrés à l'anis ; on grignotera les qaghaq tal-ghasel fourrés à la figue

Selon la recette donnée sur le site ci-après, pas de figues. C'est apparemment un dessert de Noël.
