Cooking / Culinary / kitchen appliances
English term or phrase: countertop appliance
Bonjour,

Comment traduiriez-vous "countertop" dans le contexte suivant ?

"A kitchen machine, or mixer, is a counter top appliance with large open bowl for mixing, whisking and kneading. The top articulates allowing the bowl to be removed"

Je comprends le sens mais n'arrive pas à trouver d'équivalent en français.

Merci d'avance !

neutral  Tony M: I thought of this too, but it's not specific enough here; what about a hoover, for example? / Need to add something like "...de cuisine, à poser sur plan de travail" --- but surely there must be a less clumsy solution?!

-> It is not my fault... this is the term we use in French. 'Petit électroménager' concerns coffee maker, mixer, microwave... In other words everything small enough to be left on the countertop. A hoover is an 'appareil électroménager'

agree  Emiliano Pantoja: Ça a l'air d'être un appareil style Thermomix, ce serait quand même un "petit" électroménager

agree  Joco: Même si « petit » est relatif ici, c'est bien le terme.

appareil posable / (pose libre)

Explanation:
Having just been searching for some domestic electrical appliances, I came across these two terms which seem to be widely used by both manufacturers and suppliers.

I can confirm, following further research, that 'posable' is exactly the term officially used by manufacturers etc. for 'countertop' — I've even got the 2 terms together in the multilingual instructions for one such device.
