English to French translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy / distance education | | English term or phrase: banking or depository teaching and learning | Adult learners are most likely to prefer active and participatory learning instead of rote memorization of teacher transmitted prepackaged educational materials. In rote learning, learners read (or listen) and reproduce the information when teachers require them to do so in assignments, tests, and, examinations.
Unlike children, it is easy for adults to make a distinction between ***banking or depository teaching and learning***, which encourage rote memorization and active teaching and learning, which encourages autonomous learning. Active teaching and learning involves or engages the learners as committed social members who not only learn but also individuals who can teach others on the basis of their accumulated experiences. |

passive learning : students "bank" the subject matter "deposited" by the teacher. Frontal teaching.
active learning : students learn by doing, by experimenting, not by listening to the explanations of the teacher.
Tout type d'enseignement est basé sur les savoirs et les acquis, c'est la méthode qui diffère. |
