English to French translations [PRO]
Social Sciences - Education / Pedagogy / University | | English term or phrase: Technical Major | All university partners of ZZZ that contribute to a technical major are parties to the corresponding agreement.
A ZZZ recognized Technical Major (90 ECTS) with a standardized XXX Minor (30 ECTS) is a two-year programme (120 ECTS) at advanced level leading to a Dual/double master’s degree.
At application time, the students have to give preferences for choice of Technical major.
The students admitted for this particular Technical Major study at the participating institutions according to the curriculum and study plan specified in Annex 3.
The Technical major includes a thesis of 30 ECTs and the XXX Minor includes a thesis of & ECTS.

Pour dire que j'avais pris l'"option" traduction en licence, plus jeune, je disais toujours "I majored in...". Cela ne veut pas dire que c'est juste et que cela s'applique à tous les contextes, mais je pense que c'est le sens ici, et que c'est plus clair que les calques.
Major/minor = spécialisation primaire/secondaire, s'il y a besoin de faire la distinction.
Major is what you'll be focusing on studying for the next 4-5 years of college. A minor is something you focus on studying as well but not as important as your major.
Définition:
For example, let's say I want to major in Economics and minor in Chinese. When I graduate, I would have learned a lot about Economics and maybe pursue a job dealing with Economics. My minor in Chinese is just showing that I emphasized my studies on the culture and language however it is not my main focus.

=> Aujourd'hui, l'Université a plus de 60 départements et domaines de spécialisation principale.

saxonne de "major" (la matière principale dans un cycle
d’études universitaire menant à la licence). Dans certains
pays, la notion de spécialisation principale est inusitée.
Elle peut être omise s’il est probable que les chefs
d’établissement ne saisissent pas cette notion.
