Explanation:
If it is indeed a rotating 'beacon' (as on a police car etc.), then 'gyrophare' would of course be more appropriate.

Although the context is far from complete, I would interpret it like Hendiadys and Florence as being a combined visual and audible warning device.

OK, now we know what the product actually is, it makes it a lot easier.

Apparently, it isn't a rotating beacon, just independent audible and visible warning devices in a single housing.

And the 'base' refers to the fact that is simply plugs into a base, instead of ebing directly mounted.

The manufacturer's website is full of really useful information which I feel sure would help you resolve a lot of these queries.

No, Asker, 'sur sol' is NOT the same meaning at all!

The whole point of the 'base' is that this particular beacon plugs into an already-installed base — i.e. all the fixing and wiring can be done first, and then you just go around and plug in the beacons themselves; it also means that in the evtn of failure, units can be changed very quickly.

This is in contrast to standard installation, where the whole unit has to be wired and fixed.

So the 'base' element is an important extra feature, and you do the product a disservice to suggest that it is merely 'floor-mounting' — in any case, there is little technical logic in that, since these kinds of devices are rarely if ever mounted on the floor; that would be silly, since a) they would be very vulnerable, and b) they are usually placed somewhere fairly high up and prominent, for best visibility.
