Seems to me these short 'jumper cables' are just used for interconnection betwen different pieces of equipment (rather like your screen sometimes plugs into your PC, so that one switch turns both on together).

So not the main incoming power cord / cable

neutral  Tony M: Not a 'rallonge' as such, but suggests (from the short length) that it is simply used to connect between 2 items of equipment / Don't quite see the connection, but however parano I am, can't see how that could be a personal / offensive remark, so OK by me
