Careful! 14:43 Jan 26
You'll probably need to check carefully with the rest of your source text, since this is possibly diametrically ambiguous! It depends a bit, too, on just how careful the writer was with wording and punctuation.
Here are my two interpretations:
1) The oil pump is currently receiving an 'on' command signal; override this in order to make sure it is 'off'
2) The oil pump may be 'on' or 'off', but you should force it to 'on' by giving it a command that overrides its normal control signal.
The problem is, if meaning #1 was intended, it really ought to have read "Override the oil pump 'on'...", whereas without the ' ', it tends (ever so slightly!) to favour #2.
I think more context is going to be necessary to help decide for sure.
Apart from anything else, what wouldd be the technical logic? What is going on here, once the oil reaches this temperature, what is suposed to happen? Here, you could probably usefully explain a bit more of the overall context to us...
The fact that it says you then have to "check for leaks" could well indicate that the pump needs to be on, in order presumably to provide pressure that will make the leaks more evident; but again, uncertain... |
