I'm not a native, so can only offer this as a preliminary suggestion.

Technically, the key point is that both 'measurement' and 'energy pulsing' are achieved using (different!) pins on the same connector (thus only one connector instead of 2 needs to be fitted in the case of retro-fit use)

I don't think 'pin-out' is particularly significant here, in fact it actually seems as if it is being misused; unless they really do mean that the two function share NOT ONLY the same connector, BUT ALSO actually the same PINS! (i.e. pin 1 for example is used for 1 function in 'measurement' mode, and a different function in 'energy pulsing' mode --- this is technically feasible, but I think less likely, which is why I suggest leaving out the 'pin-out' aspect.

To be sure, it really would need more overall context, both about the actual equipment involved, how it functions, and also, the author's intention -- were they being sloppy in their use of the language, or extremely precise?
