Renewable energy sources, such as wind turbines and hydroelectric stations, do not produce greenhouse gases.
In a wind turbine, wind turns a large rotor, and the rotor turns a generator. So energy in the wind is turned to electricity.
At a hydroelectric station, *** flowing water turns a turbine,*** which turns a generator. So movement energy in the water is turned to electricity.


Avec tous ces "turns" je perds le compte....
dans certains cas, j'ai utilisé :
* le verbe "faire tourner"
(wind turns a large rotor = le vent fait tourner un grand rotor)
* le verbe "convertir":
(so energy in the wind is turned to electricity = Ainsi l'énergie du vent est convertie en électricité)

Mais comment bien traduire ici l'expression:
"flowing water turns a turbine" ???

En fait, il y a plusieurs expressions pouvant être utilisées; on peut dire que l'eau fait tourner une turbine (bien sûr!), actionnne une turbine, fournit la force motrice à la turbine, etc. On a pas besoin de dire que l'eau coule, cela va de soi.

En fait, il y a plusieurs expressions pouvant être utilisées; on peut dire que l'eau fait tourner une turbine (bien sûr!), actionnne une turbine, fournit la force motrice à la turbine, etc. On a pas besoin de dire que l'eau coule, cela va de soi.
