"Earth Mats are metal mats that are installed underground to form a very good ground (usually for extremely good lightning protection, or for extremely good ground systems required for EMI testing).
It is usually required to dig up the ground to a depth, the fill dire on top of the mats.
An array of ground rods driven into the ground is a better technique.
The material is usually copper, but other materials can be used if the soil is highly corrosive. The higher the conductivity of the material the better.
