The German Renewable Energy Sources Act (RESA), which has been in effect since 2000, was amended for the third time and will enter into force in 2012.

The cornerstones of the RESA were left unchanged: feed-in priority for renewable energy, grid connection obligation and set feed-in tariffs (generally for 20 years).
