English to French translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general) | | English term or phrase: having been burned when the dot-com bubble burst | Bonjour,
Je ne comprends pas bien ce que signifie "burned" dans la phrase suivante (je mets les phrases qui précèdent pour le contexte) :
"Fixed-income funds, which were intended to deal in inherently lower-risk investments, have been encouraged to enhance returns through leverage and and derivatives. Thus, the supposedly lowest-risk part of a pension fund's portfolio may turn out, under difficult market conditions, to provide the most variable return. Having been burned when the dot-com bubble burst, many fund sponsors shifted to higher fixed-income allocations."
J'ai l'impression que "burned" réfèrent aux "sponsors", mais je ne vois pas ce que cela signifie... Qu'ils se sont brûlés les ailes ?
Merci pour votre aide. |
