Explanation:
Your text may be referring to chill sticks (also ice sticks or cooling paddles), which are used to chill foods such as soups, sauces, chili etc. rapidly, to get them through the 'danger zone' as soon as possible. Filled with water and frozen, they are then inserted into the food to bring the temperature down quickly.
